Why Just One Candle?

This blog was created to bring awareness to a wonderful non-profit organization called First Candle. First Candle's sol mission is to raise money for research to find cures for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), still births, and Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID). Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, commonly called SIDS, is defined by the "is the sudden death of an infant under one year of age which remains unexplained after a thorough case investigation, including performance of a complete autopsy, examination of the death scene, and review of the clinical history. (Willinger et al, 1991)" (quote taken from the American SIDS Institute). It's devastating, but it does happen. A mother can put her infant to sleep, and while the child is sleeping they can never wake up.
